I was surprised by how exhausting was the travel from San Francisco to Laucala, a small island in the Fijian archipelago. First flight SFO to LAX, then LAX to NAN (Nadi, Fiji), 11 hours, then shuffle through immigration and customs, and finally the 45-minute flight in a six-seater to Laucala arriving 7am. Jim did well, nevertheless traveling with dementia is no picnic and I underestimated how difficult this would be. But once here, we sre enchanted.
Pretty much shot for the day, so jet lagged. Managed a swim in the pool, a brief exploration of the villa grounds but was not up to navigating the golf cart around the island. Napped in the afternoon, dinner at 6pm, in bed by 7, up today, Thursday, at 5:30am to greet a new Laucala morning freshened by soft breezes. Paradise indeed.
Watched a Pacific Kingfisher whilst breakfasting!
Sounds like a good start, despite exhaustion, which is inevitable. And now you're there!
