I've not lived sans cat since 1971; Jim since 1969. Very stressful! But we're working on it. Getting the patio cat-proofed since we'd prefer kitty not roam, plus we abut one of the busier streets in Palo Alto. Hope to have this project completed by the end of next week. Then we're off on the great adventure of adopting a male adult cat (four years or more) to settle in with us. We desperately need furry therapy.
Our Mexico respite at Playa Maroma was perfectly delightful. Non-stop flight to Cancun from SFO, then a forty-minute drive south along the Yucatan/Caribbean coast. Flew out the 17th, returned late on the 22nd. There was modest satisfaction at being, particularly, in Mexico spending our yankee dollars as The Big Cheato was inaugurated.
No rain, except at night, great food, kind people, exceptional beach, warm enough ocean, and -- Mexican hot chocolate, as much as I could slurp. Jim was enchanted by the sun, surf, susurration of the ocean, pelicans, frigate birds but occasionally annoyed by los pequenos hormigas. Hoping to return in April or May. I always am "to home" in Mexico where my Spanish can run free.
Travel is a disruptor for Jim. In our suite at Maroma, he couldn't remember where the door was nor where to find the toilet. All else he handles well, including airports and flying. He charms all he meets. Our travel expeditions won't be lasting more than another year or so. From now on, non-stop flights, not too many time-zones, not too many days in length, easy transfers and kindly staff.
I have been more testy of late and needs must get myself in hand.
