Paranoia roots in civil rights jailing?

I was alarmed when Jim talked about the cops coming to arrest us for some imagined malfeasance having to do with selling our Menlo Park house in 2014. Yet, the next day, he said nothing, and the day after that nothing again.

Lesson to Kat: don't get overexcited about this stuff.

Also, Jim likely has an entirely understandable cop phobia due to his civil rights activism in Baton Rouge which resulted in a two-week stint in jail for contempt of court in 1960. Yay my Jim. But he clearly carries baggage from that and never has talked freely with me about it.
