Vulnerability

Here's the score: 18 days after fractures in Zihua; 9 days post surgery; 7 days after discarding the damn boot in favor of a cast; next post-surgical check in a week. Uncertain when some weight bearing on right leg will be permitted but I expect another two weeks. Meanwhile the knee scooter is my friend.

It is a new world of vulnerability when one enters into being cared for. First, of course, one must be able to ask for help ... the first course in a meal of vulnerability. Closely followed by the sponge bath in bed.  The sheer frustration of having to ask for a cup of tea rather than getting it for one's self. Explaining that nothing is to be added to herbal tea but milk in black tea, no sugar. Then we get into micro management. Some milk but not too much but not to little either. I do appreciate the meds reminders.

Meanwhile Jim has been anxious and upset by having another person in the house, he is losing all sorts of abilities but I am hopeful some will return after this disaster resolves. One positive aspect of having Marie the Caregiver with us is her daily walks with Jim.
