I make coffee the Melitta way. It was how I learned when I started drinking coffee in my early twenties although I’d experimented with most of the known methods over the years. Jim enjoyed coffee but was no great shakes in the kitchen even though he could boil water when push came to shove for tea.
After we moved from New Orleans to NYC, Dimir, a good friend, taught Jim the Melitta method, showing him how to pour the boiling water carefully down the sides of the filter to ensure maximum strength. Now, 45 years later, I recall this sweet time every morning when I make coffee.
