We are preparing for Saturday when we drive north to Calistoga in Napa. It's a week-long Family (Chosen) Gathering -- 15 of us, all from Brooklyn except the tiny Palo Alto contingent: me, Jim. Five kids, 12 and under. I am thrilled about being with beloved, long-time friends! Jim won't remember everyone but the surrounding love will comfort him.
