I just read on the Nextdoor app that someone's sweet cat was hit by a car and died. Did not know the person, did not know the cat, burst into tears and sobs.
This in a world where refugees are drowning in the Mediterranean, children are dying trying to live in the U.S., where fascism and racism find it convenient to raise their ugly heads, where EPA restrictions are being rolled back, more. All it takes is one dead kitty.
If ever I write a book about this endless last chapter, I'm going to title it "One Dead Kitty."
Because emotional collapse is only one dead kitty away.
