Jim could "live" for years, as he is now, gradually losing names and faces. Yet functioning minimally but sufficiently to maintain for years.
Then he will lose the ability to walk and function otherwise on his own. He will need help to dress and in daily intimate ways. He will wear diapers
After that, unable to move on his own. He will be bedridden with an empty head and no ability to communicate. His brain will be a vacuum, only his body will live. Jim probably will die of pneumonia, induced by compromised lung function.
And I will die of heartbreak, except I already have done so. My beloved is gone already.
