Visits and Ailments

Jim had out-of-town visitors last week. Bruce drove down from Mt. Shasta and stopped by. Great visit. Jim was delighted and instructed Bruce about trees. Later that week, Nancy visited which made Jim very happy. More tree lectures. It’s Jim’s thing.

I’m trying not to engage in a bit of schadenfreude as nurses at Palo Alto Commons get closely acquainted with Jim’s minor health issues about which he vociferously complains: chronic sinusitis, dry and itchy eyes, dry mouth, and fungal irritations in the toes and nether regions. All this layered atop the dementia symptoms. It’s a lot, as I can attest to.

I brought cup cakes for my birthday with candles and Jim was thrilled. He thought it was his birthday. I don’t mind sharing.

Meanwhile billing issues occupied my time as I was being billed $2K more per month than agreed for Jim’s care. Had to root out the signed agreement to prove this. Then, there was some double billing ... all in all I was impressed by the relative ease of getting this resolved. Although I am not comfortable negotiating financial issues.
